Granulated maple sugar is great for use in baking as a substitute for white or brown sugar or as a topping for desserts and snacks. Sprinkle it on oatmeal, toast, ice cream, popcorn, apple slices, or your favorite hot beverage! We use amber grade maple syrup to make light powdery "shaker sugar", with a consistency similar to confectioner sugar. We also use dark grade maple syrup to make "shaker sugar" with a consistency more similar to brown sugar. Sugar made from darker grade syrup has a richer, more robust maple flavor.
